Explore the lyrical poem and accompanying film captures from a recent 'School of Life' lesson, integrated with the 'True Artist' ORPHIC Étude Capsule collection. This blend of both work and play reflects our season of life, one that prompts me to tap into my creative resources and adapt softly to a new rhythm where I am both a guide in my daughters learning journey and a working artist / writer contributing to my family. The beauty in this, is that we didn’t know how we could make this all work, and it turns out it was worth taking the leap for. I am learning that provision will sometimes follow the direction of conviction, and this has been just that.

School of life

We rise slower these days,

body clocks waking with the sun's gentle arc.

Participants in this bright and holy dance,

we are students of it all…

hungry to see,

to touch,

to sprawl out

and chase the coloured winds.

I get asked a lot of oftens

of the map I am following here—

I understand from where the question comes,

for it has taken quiet efforts

to wonder, 

from where, came my own.

And so I sent a letter to curiosity,

asking that she might be our guide—

and she taught me to lead in cursive, yes

for my daughters

for this is good.

And in the kingdom of their childhood,

lunch can now be the poem they longed,

each bite savoured without a hint of rush 

and the sun mending the shadows beneath their eyes

as the trees offer a restful place to be—

this is a returning,

a reformation of imagination

for them,

an unlearning

for me.
